The Wages vs Sales report compares employee costs and sales over a selected period. There are numerous options to vary the analysis.
Start by selecting the desired date range. The appropriate range will vary according to the breakdown type you need; the default breakdown is by the hour, so it may make sense to choose a range of a day, or no more than a week. For a breakdown by day, choose a week to a month, for a monthly breakdown choose a quarter to a year. The final breakdown option, Overall, can apply to any period.
Other options which will affect the report compilation are available underneath the Breakdown option;
- Report On
- Payments Taken – compares wages in the time period to the payments recorded in the till. More representative in wet-led, bar-service type environments.
- Sales Entered (default) – compares wages against the sales entered in the time period. For an hourly breakdown where table service is in place, this will show a more even spread than payments taken, since tabs are likely to be paid more towards the end of a sitting
- Show wage comparison for
- Rota’d wages – expected wages for the selected period based on the rota. Requires a valid rota to have been prepared for the selected period.
- Logged wages – actual wages based on hours worked in the selected period. Requires staff logging option to be in use.
- Both (default)
- Sales Type
- Gross – inclusive of any VAT (default)
- Net – VAT element (at rate set for each applicable sale item) removed.
Once you have made all your selections, click Generate Report. Your report will then appear, with a graph at the top (unless you’ve chosen the Overall breakdown);
